Zora djevojka - detail by nejna Zora djevojka - detail by nejna
This is a detail from my previously submmited painting Zora djevojka
Zora Djevojka (Dawnmaiden) is a spirit from Croatian Tales from Long Ago collection of faerytales written by Ivana Brlic Mazuranic.

Dawnmaiden rises from the sea every morn with the firs rays of sun in her silver boat with golden paddles. And to the people that abide her for three days and three nights not fishing, she grants a single wish. But sometimes she gave you not what you want but what you need, and that is her greatest gift...

For Dawnmaden pose I've used one of stock photos , as a reference. Also I used some brushes from resources here on Deviantart, one of them is [link] made by .

:D Well I'm glad people are able to see this work as more than just a character from that particular story that have inspired it.

Well it's based on Croatian and Slavic mythology and those topic aren't well known especially if you didn't have classes about them, which is I suppose really unlikely. Lots of people even in Croatia are unacquaintated with it.

Noo, we got classes on Greek and Roman in middle school and that's the furthest we went with stuff that wasn't in English originally
