Severus Snape from JK Rowling's Harry Potter. After Harmione my second favourite character in HP. For painting the cauldron I used a reference from ~WITCHCRAFTY-STOCK and for the bottles references from ~hever-stock.
This is really a well done Snape. You've made his looks eye catching and striking without really making him handsome. His robes are wonderful with that bit of green and the environment is lovely. I agree with Droxy, I could see this as a Head portrait. (and yes, as much as I love Rickman's Snape, over the past ten years, his age has really started to show...)
Oh, that's so good! You've caught perfectly the hooked nose without making it TOO big, as so many others can tend to; his expression is contemplative yet severe; his face as lean as I always wished Alan Rickman's was. Plus the youth: people tend to forget that he was the youngest teacher in Hogwarts, with the possible exception of Lockhart(?) at least until Remus Lupin joined the team. This looks like he was around the age he'd be during Half Blood Prince. So awesome. Thank you for sharing with us!
thats awsome. Nice incorperation of green to his robes. And just love the bottles. The corkscrews and the way the liquid is painted inside them, really nicely done. and i like how the ones in the back are more out of focus
What a fantastic take on Snape! It's wonderful to see an interpretation of his face straight from an artist's imagination. He looks haunted and severe and sharp as a newly whetted knife. Not a beautiful face, as he was not a beautiful man, but one you (I) would remember.
Thank you! Altgough I love Rickman's interpretation and work in the movies, he's not an ideal Snape I imagined in my head, he's a little too old and too handsome for the role of Potion Master we all love. I tried to give my own interpretation of him. I'm glad to hear I've made a painting that resembles his description from the books.
